Jeon-Ju, 한옥 마을
고등 추억 속으로~
What a blessing to still be in touch with high school friends! Thanks, Sun-Ju, for coming down from Seoul to meet me in Jeon-Ju, S. Korea. We were taken back to the time and walked through our high school years as we roamed around Kyo-Dong. We visited the famous noodle restaurant, Veteran 베테랑 칼국수, next to the school we went, Sung-Shim Girls’ High School. The restaurant has been there for 40 years, and you know what they say, ‘If you don’t know 베테랑 칼국수, you must be a spy.’ Things have changed so much, but one thing didn’t seem to change: how we always enjoyed spending time together.
Traditional Village, Jeon-Ju 한옥 마을
The largest Traditional Village in Korea. I am honored to have grown up there, where my stomping ground became famous for tourism, including Gyeng-Gi-Jeon and Pung-nam-Dong.
The Famous Veteran, 베테랑 칼국수
This famous noodle restaurant is a must-stop if you visit Jeon-Ju. It has been there for 40 years and remains the best place to dine in, especially if you grew up around there. Don’t forget to order Kal-Guk-Su, 칼국수!
The Best High School Memory
This is something I still cherish to this day. Sun-Ju and I always seemed to struggle with completing pages of scrambled vocabulary assignments. We decided to penalize those who didn’t do the work by collecting fines, hoping that would encourage us to do better with our homework. Unfortunately, that must haven’t helped us much, as we collected enough money in a very short period. So, one evening, we decided to sneak out of the class and went to a pizza restaurant little away from the school. It was in a basement with a dark lighting setup. Oh boy, we were stupidly brave I guess. The best memory EVER!
