The fog had been so thick that day that nothing beyond the house could be seen. Then, suddenly the hilltops on the other side of the river appeared through a slit in the fog. This gave the effect of a black and white picture, though it is in color. The slit of clarity showed the beauty of the fog. As when a moment of clarity rises through chaos in life, suddenly the beauty of it all is felt.
